1. Foreword

Recreo Consilium is an independent advisory practice founded on the belief that organisations make better decisions when they have access to clear thinking, independent judgement and experienced professional advice.

This document defines the standard to which Recreo Consilium intends to operate. It is not a marketing document. It is not a legal policy. It is an internal reference point for how the practice thinks, communicates, advises and holds itself accountable.

The title of this document is permanent: The Recreo Standard. As the practice grows, the wording may evolve, examples may be added and related documents may expand. The purpose should remain constant: to provide a clear professional benchmark for everything issued in the name of Recreo Consilium.

Professional reputations are not built by the promises organisations make. They are built by the standards they consistently uphold.

2. How this standard should be used

RS-001 is primarily an internal standard. It should be used to guide the tone, judgement and quality of all public-facing, client-facing and internal documents produced by Recreo Consilium.

• Public-facing documents should use the phrase 'Independent Advisory Practice' consistently.

• Selected extracts from RS-001 may be used on the website, in proposals and in onboarding materials.

• The full document should remain internal unless specifically approved for wider distribution.

• All documents in the Recreo Standards library should align with the principles and language set out here.

Confirmed positioning Recreo Consilium is an Independent Advisory Practice. This phrase should be used consistently across public-facing materials, governance documents and client communications.

3. Who we are

Recreo Consilium is an independent advisory practice. That distinction matters.

A consultancy may be appointed to provide services. A professional advisory practice is entrusted to exercise judgement. Recreo's role is to help clients understand complexity, evaluate options and make better decisions through objective, commercially aware and technically informed advice.

The practice is not defined by a single discipline. Its value lies in the ability to bring experience, analysis and judgement together in a way that improves the quality of decision-making. Sectors, technologies and markets will change. The responsibility of good advice should not.

4. Our ambition

Recreo Consilium's ambition is to become one of the United Kingdom's most respected independent advisory practices.

This ambition is deliberately measured. It is not to become the largest, the loudest or the fastest growing. Respect is earned through consistency, competence, integrity and the quality of the work produced over time.

The practice will remain focused on the United Kingdom. This reflects the legal, commercial and professional environment within which Recreo is intended to operate and ensures that its governance framework remains practical, proportionate and relevant.

5. Why we exist

Most organisations do not suffer from a lack of information. They suffer from the difficulty of knowing which information matters most.

Projects become more complex. Regulations develop. Stakeholder expectations increase. Costs rise. Options multiply. In those circumstances, the value of independent judgement becomes greater, not smaller.

Recreo exists to improve the quality of decisions. We do that by helping clients understand the issue in front of them, challenge assumptions where necessary, simplify complexity and move forward with confidence.

6. What we believe

Independence matters

Advice should be capable of standing apart from commercial bias, product preference or predetermined answers.

Clarity is a discipline

Clear communication is not the absence of complexity. It is the result of understanding complexity well enough to explain it properly.

Judgement is the product

Knowledge informs advice. Judgement gives it value.

8. The Recreo Method

The Recreo Method provides a consistent structure for advisory work. It is not intended to replace professional judgement. It is intended to support it.

Understand

Identify the underlying issue, the client's objectives and the wider commercial and operational environment.

Challenge

Test assumptions, question inherited positions and consider whether the obvious answer is the right one.

Simplify

Reduce complexity into clear options, risks and implications without losing essential detail.

Advise

Provide proportionate, evidence-led recommendations that support confident decision-making.

Support

Assist the client through implementation, communication, decision gates or further review where appropriate.

Improve

Reflect on outcomes, capture learning and improve the practice, the process and future advice.

9. The standard we hold ourselves to

• Every report should make the client better informed than before it was issued.

• Every engagement should be approached with independence, care and proportionate diligence.

• Every uncertainty that materially affects advice should be acknowledged.

• Every document should be written with respect for the reader's time and intelligence.

• Every public-facing statement should be accurate, restrained and capable of being evidenced.

12. Review and maintenance

RS-001 should be reviewed periodically by the Director of Recreo Consilium to ensure that it continues to reflect the professional standards, positioning and operating principles of the practice.

The title The Recreo Standard is permanent. The detailed wording may evolve as the practice develops, but the purpose of the document should remain constant: to define the standard by which Recreo Consilium judges its own work.
