1. Purpose
This statement sets out the ethical business principles expected of Recreo Consilium, its directors, employees, associates and those representing the practice.
2. Our ethical position
Recreo Consilium's ambition is to become one of the United Kingdom's most respected independent advisory practices. Respect is earned through conduct as much as capability.
We therefore expect our work to be carried out with independence, integrity, professionalism, respect and accountability.
3. Independence and conflicts of interest
Independent judgement is central to Recreo's value. Actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest should be identified, considered and managed before they compromise the quality or objectivity of advice.
Declare relevant commercial relationships, interests or prior involvement.
Avoid advising where independence would reasonably be questioned unless the matter is transparently managed.
Do not allow supplier, contractor or product relationships to influence recommendations improperly.
Record conflict decisions where appropriate.
4. Integrity and honest communication
Recreo should communicate honestly, accurately and proportionately. We should not exaggerate capability, conceal material limitations or present uncertain information as certain.
5. Anti-bribery and corruption
Recreo does not tolerate bribery, corruption, facilitation payments or improper inducements. No person acting for Recreo should offer, request, receive or accept anything intended to improperly influence a business decision.
6. Gifts and hospitality
Gifts or hospitality must be modest, proportionate and transparent. They must never create, or appear to create, an obligation or influence over professional judgement.
Any gift, hospitality or benefit that could reasonably be perceived as influencing advice or procurement decisions should be declined or declared to a director.
7. Confidentiality
Information entrusted to Recreo must be handled responsibly. Confidential client, supplier, employee or commercial information should only be used for legitimate business purposes and shared only where authorised or legally required.
8. Fair dealing and competition
Recreo seeks to compete fairly. We should not misrepresent competitors, obtain information improperly, collude with competitors or engage in conduct intended to distort competition.
9. Suppliers and associates
Suppliers, consultants and associates engaged by Recreo should be selected on capability, integrity, suitability and value. Where third parties represent Recreo, they should understand the standards expected of them.
10. Raising concerns
Concerns about unethical conduct, conflicts of interest, bribery, confidentiality or other improper behaviour should be raised with a director. Concerns should be treated seriously and reviewed proportionately.
11. Review
This statement should be reviewed at least annually and whenever Recreo's activities, supply chain, client base or legal obligations materially change.
